Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family with community service. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award as the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home the national title twice. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a diploma as a teacher. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6'2 inches. In his time at college, he was the captain of the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
